MINUTES SENATE SUBCOMMITTEE ON TECHNOLOGY & BUSINESS GROWTH Thursday, March 18, 1999 8:30 am Capitol Extension, Room E1.028 ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.11, a public hearing Senate Subcommittee on Technology & Business Growth was held on Thursday, March 18, 1999 in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.028, at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Troy Fraser Senator John Carona Senator Frank Madla Senator Mike Jackson Senator John Whitmire ***** The Chair called the meeting to order at 8:45 am. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted. The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senator Whitmire. The minutes from the last meeting, March 18, 1999, were approved by unanimous consent. The Chair laid out SB 456 and recognized the author, Senator Madla, to explain the bill. Senator Madla pulled down a previous Committee Substitute that had been adopted in the Economic Development Committee before the bill was rereferred. Senator Madla sent up a new committee substitute; the Chair recognized Senator Madla to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the bill as filed. Senator Fraser moved adoption of the committee substitute, without objection, it was so ordered. Witnesses registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. Senator Jackson moved that SB 456 do not pass but that CSSB 456 be reported back to the full Committee with the recommendation that it do pass. The motion carried with a vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent. The Chair laid out SB 106 and recognized the author, Senator Truan, to explain the bill. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. Senator Fraser moved that SB 106 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. The Chair laid out SB 614 and recognized the author, Senator Sibley, to explain the bill. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. Senator Fraser recessed the committee until 1 hour after the Legislative Session adjourned. The Committee came back to order at 2:15pm and continued to hear testimony on SB 614. Senator Fraser moved that SB 614 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. There being no further business, at 3:00 pm Senator Fraser moved that the Committee be recessed subject to the call of the Chair.
