MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON JURISPRUDENCE Thursday, February 18, 1999 2:00 pm Capitol Extension, Room E1.016 ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Jurisprudence was held on Thursday, February 18, 1999 in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Rodney Ellis Senator J.E. Brown Senator Chris Harris Senator Gregory Luna Senator Jeff Wentworth ***** The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:20 pm. The following business was transacted. The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senator Jeff Wentworth The Jurisprudence Committee met to discuss juvenile justice matters and Texas Youth Commission policies and procedures. Senator Ellis and Senator Harris made introductory remarks and discussed the tragic crime spree in Cleburne, Texas. The Chair then welcomed all witnesses. Senator Ellis and Senator Harris asked questions of the witnesses. Senator Harris assumed the Chair at 3:45 pm. The witnesses answered questions and spoke about the specific crime spree and general policies and procedures of the Texas Youth Commission Senator Ellis resumed the Chair at 3:48 pm. There being no further business, at 4:13 pm Senator Ellis moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair.
