MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON STATE AFFAIRS Wednesday, May 12, 1999 12:50 pm Senator Shapiro's Desk ***** Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on State Affairs was held on Wednesday, May 12, 1999 at Senator Shapiro's Desk, in Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Florence Shapiro None Senator Eliot Shapleigh Senator David Bernsen Senator J. E. Brown Senator David Cain Senator Tom Haywood Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. Senator Drew Nixon Senator Jeff Wentworth ***** The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:52 pm. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted. The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senator Lucio. The Chair laid out HB 2510. Senator Bernsen moved to reconsider the vote by which the committee substitute for HB 2510 was passed to the Senate. There being no objection, the vote was reconsidered. Senator Shapleigh moved to reconsider the vote by which the committee substitute for HB 2510 was adopted. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Senator Shapleigh moved to withdraw his motion to adopt the substitute. There being no objection, the motion and the substitute were withdrawn. Senator Shapleigh sent up a new committee substitute; the Chair recognized Senator Shapleigh to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the bill as filed. Senator Shapleigh moved adoption of the committee substitute, without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Shapleigh moved that HB 2510 do not pass but that CSHB 2510 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senator Shapleigh moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered. There being no further business, at 12:56 pm Senator Shapiro moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair.
