E. Brown Senator David Bernsen Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. Senator Drew Nixon ***** Senator Brown, the Acting Chair, called the meeting to order at 9:10 am. The following business was transacted. The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senator David Cain Senator David Bernsen Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. The Chair laid out SB 132 and recognized the author, Senator Nixon, to explain the bill. Senator Nixon sent up a committee substitute; the Chair recognized Senator Nixon to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the bill as filed. Senator Brown moved adoption of the committee substitute, without objection, it was so ordered. The Chair moved that SB 132 be left pending to await a quorum; without objection it was so ordered. The Chair laid out SB 155 and recognized the author, Senator Lindsay, to explain the bill. Senator Cain, Senator Lucio, and Senator Bernsen arrived at 9:12 a.m. Senator Nixon sent up Committee Amendment 1 and moved adoption; without objection, the amendment was adopted. Senator Nixon moved that SB 155 as amended be reported to the full Committee with the recommendation that it do pass. The motion carried with a vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. At 9:15 am Senator Cain resumed the chair. The Chair laid out SB 21 and recognized the author, Senator Zaffirini, to explain the bill. Senator Brown sent up a committee substitute; the Chair recognized Senator Zaffirini to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the bill as filed. Senator Brown moved adoption of the committee substitute, without objection, it was so ordered. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. Senator Brown moved that SB 21do not pass but that CSSB 21 be reported back to the full Committee with the recommendation that it do pass. The motion carried with a vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senator Nixon moved that SB 132 do not pass but that CSSB 132 be reported back to the full Committee with the recommendation that it do pass.
