MINUTES SENATE SUBCOMMITTEE ON INFRASTRUCTURE Tuesday, April 13, 1999 8:30 a.m. Capitol Extension, Room E1.012 ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.11, a public hearing Senate Subcommittee on Infrastructure was held on Tuesday, April 13, 1999 in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.012, at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator David Cain Senator J. E. Brown Senator David Bernsen Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. Senator Drew Nixon ***** The Chair called the meeting to order at 8:40 a.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted. The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senator J. E. Brown Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. Senator Nixon moves that the minutes from the previous meeting be approved; without objection, it was so ordered. The Chair laid out SB 1176 and recognized the author, Senator Wentworth, to explain the bill. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. Senator Bernsen moved that SB 1176 be reported favorably to the full Committee with the recommendation that it do pass. The motion carried with a vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senator Lucio requested that the full Committee place SB 1176 on the Local and Uncontested Calender. The Chair agreed to make the request for Senator Lucio when the Subcommittee report is presented to the full Committee. The Chair laid out SB 1444 and recognized the author, Senator Barrientos, to explain the bill. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. The Chair moved that SB 1444 be left pending to await a quorum; without objection it was so ordered. The Chair requested unanimous consent to open public testimony on SB 628; without objection, it was so ordered. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. The Chair moved that SB 628 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. The Chair laid out SB 1505 and recognized the author, Senator Truan, to explain the bill. The Chair recognized Senator Truan on an amendment to the bill. Senator Lucio sent up Committee Amendment 1 and moved adoption; without objection, the amendment was adopted. At 10:05 am Senator Cain moved that the Committee stand recessed until the Senate adjourned; without objection, it was so ordered. At 12:48 p.m. the Committee reconvened. At 12:53 p.m. Senator Bernsen assumed the chair. At 1:01 p.m. Senator Cain resumed the chair. The Chair moved that SB 1658 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. At 1:55 pm Senator Brown assumed the chair. Upon arrival of a quorum, Senator Lucio moved that SB 1505 as amended be reported back to the full Committee with the recommendation that it do pass. The motion carried with a vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent Upon arrival of a quorum, Senator Lucio moved that SB 1444 be reported back to the full Committee with the recommendation that it do pass. There being no further business, at 1:59 p.m. The Chair moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair.
