The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senator Mario Gallegos, Jr. Senator David Bernsen Senator Mike Jackson Chairman Wentworth announced that the phrase "Without objection, it was so ordered" needed to be struck from page two of the Minutes in two places. Senator Haywood moved that the Minutes from the previous meeting be approved with changes. There being no objection, the Minutes were adopted. The Chairman laid out the name of the nominee to the Prepaid Higher Education Tuition Board. Chairman Wentworth introduced Beth Miller Weakley. Mrs. Weakley made an opening statement and then responded to questions by members of the Committee. At 3:52 p.m., Senator Haywood moved to recommend to the full Senate that Beth Miller Weakley be confirmed as a Member of the Prepaid Higher Education Tuition Board. The motion carried with a vote of 6 ayes and 0 nays. The Chairman laid out the names of the nominees to the State Pension Review Board. Senator Lucio introduced Rafael Cantu. Chairman Wentworth recognized Senator Truan to say a few words about Mr. Cantu. Chairman Wentworth introduced Jeanie Rabke Wyatt. At 4:00 p.m., Senator Brown moved to recommend to the full Senate that Rafael Cantu and Jeanie Rabke Wyatt be confirmed as Members of the State Pension Review Board. McKnight and John L. Nau, III be confirmed as Members of the Texas Historical Commission. The motion carried with a vote of 7 ayes and 0 nays. Miles, Jr. Mr. Miles made an opening statement and then responded to questions by members of the Committee. At 4:38 p.m., Senator Barrientos moved to recommend to the full Senate that Eddie J. Miles, Jr. be confirmed as a Member of the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners. The Chairman laid out the names of the nominees to the State Board for Educator Certification. Peter Peterka, representing himself, and John Maline, Executive Director of the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, testified on the nominees. Timothy Weitz, representing Texas Physical Therapy Association, testified in favor of the nominees. At 6:20 p.m., Senator Barrientos moved to leave consideration of the nominees to the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners pending. The motion carried with a vote of 4 ayes and 2 nays. Chairman Wentworth laid out the name of the nominee to the Real Estate Research Advisory Committee. Senator Ogden introduced Celia R. Goode-Haddock. Mrs. Goode-Haddock made an opening statement and then responded to questions by members of the Committee. At 6:25 p.m., Senator Jackson moved to recommend to the full Senate that Celia R. Goode-Haddock be confirmed as a Member of the Real Estate Research Advisory Committee. The motion carried with a vote of 7 ayes and 0 nays. The Chairman laid out the names of the nominees to the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. Senator Brown introduced R. C. Allen and Beverly Barron. Senator Carona introduced James C. Oberwetter and Lisa F. Dickson. Chairman Wentworth introduced Robert Valadez and announced that Dorothy C. At 6:40 p.m., Senator Brown moved to recommend to the full Senate that R. C. Allen, Beverly Barron, James C. Oberwetter, Dorothy C. Pettigrew, Lisa F. Dickson and Robert Valadez be confirmed as Members of the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. Senator Haywood seconded the motion. The motion carried with a vote of 7 ayes and 0 nays.
