MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON NATURAL RESOURCES Monday, May 10, 1999 3:00 pm Senate Chamber ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources was held on Monday, May 10, 1999 in the Senate Chamber at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator J. E. "Buster" Brown, Chair Senator Gonzalo Barrientos Senator Kenneth Armbrister Senator Bill Ratliff Senator Teel Bivins Senator Tom Haywood Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. ***** The Committee held a hearing at Senator Brown's desk upon adjournment from the Senate's regular order of business. The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:10 pm. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted. The Chair laid out HB 3793 and Senator Sibley, the sponsor, explained the bill. Senator Armbrister sent up a Committee Substitute and moved adoption of the Substitute; without objection, the Substitute was adopted. Senator Armbrister moved that CSHB 3793 pass and be reported favorably to the full Senate. The motion carried with a vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting and 2 absent. Senator Armbrister moved that CSHB 3793 be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered. The Chair laid out HB 2619 and Senator Armbrister explained the bill for the sponsor, Senator Ratliff. Senator Armbrister moved that HB 2619 pass and be reported favorably to the full Senate. The motion carried with a vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting and 2 absent. The Chair laid out HB 1845 and Senator Bivins, the sponsor, explained the bill. Senator Bivins moved that HB 1845 pass and be reported favorably to the full Senate. The motion carried with a vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting and 2 absent. Senator Bivins moved that HB 1845 be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered. The Chair laid out SB 1403 and Senator Fraser, the sponsor, explained the bill. Senator Armbrister sent up Committee Amendment One and moved adoption; without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Armbrister moved that SB 1403, as amended, pass and be reported favorably to the full Senate. The motion carried with a vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting and 2 absent. Senator Armbrister moved that SB 1403 be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered. There being no further business, at 3:20 pm Senator Armbrister moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair.
