         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Criminal  
         Justice was held on Tuesday, April 18, 2000, in the Capitol  
         Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas.

         The chair called the meeting to order at 10:10 a.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted:   
          
         The Chairman reviewed Interim Charges 1, 3, 9, and 10, and  
         explained that these were the charges being taken up at this  
         hearing. 
          
         The Chairman reviewed Charge 10 and asked for invited and public  
         testimony.  The witnesses testifying on Charge 10 are shown on  
         the attached list. 
          
         The Chairman reviewed Charge 9 and asked for invited and public  
         testimony.  The witnesses testifying on Charge 9 are shown on  
         the attached list. 
          
         The Chairman reviewed Charge 1 and asked for invited and public  
         testimony.  The witnesses testifying on Charge 1 are shown on  
         the attached list. 
          
         The Chairman reviewed Charge 3 and asked for invited and public  
         testimony.  The witnesses testifying on Charge 3 are shown on  
         the attached list. 
          
         There being no further business, at 3:05 p.m. Senator Armbrister  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of  
  
         the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
