         Pursuant to a suspension of the 24-hour posting rule, a public  
         hearing of the Senate Committee on Health Services was held on  
         Friday, May 14, 1999, in the Senate Chamber at Austin, Texas.

         The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:44 p.m.  There  
         being a quorum present, the following business was transacted.   
          
         The following members arrived after the roll was called:   
         none. 
          
         The Chair laid out the May 11, 1999, and the May 13, 1999,  
         minutes and recognized Senator Moncrief who moved for their  
         approval.  There being no objection, the motion prevailed by  
         unanimous consent. 
          
         The Chair laid out HB 1155 and recognized the Senate sponsor,  
         Senator Nelson, to explain the bill.   
          
         Senator Lindsay sent up Committee Amendment 1 and moved  
         adoption.  Senator Nelson moved that HB 1155 be left pending;  
         without objection, it was so ordered. 
          
         The Chair laid out HB 2394 and recognized the Senate sponsor,  
         Senator Nixon, to explain the bill.   
          
         Senator Nixon moved that HB 2394 be reported favorably to the  
         Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.   
         The motion carried with a vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present  
         not voting, and 1 absent.   
          
         The Chair laid out HB 2759 and recognized the Senate sponsor,  
         Senator Moncrief, to explain the bill.   
         Senator Moncrief moved that HB 2759 be reported favorably to  
         the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be  
  
         printed.  The motion carried with a vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays, 0  
         present not voting, and 1 absent.   
          
         Senator Moncrief moved that the bill be recommended for  
         placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         There being no further business, at 9:50 p.m., Senator  
         Moncrief moved that the Committee be adjourned. Without  
         objection, it was so ordered.
