MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON HEALTH SERVICES Monday, April 10, 2000 10:00 a.m. San Antonio City Council Chamber ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Health Services was held on Monday, April 10, 2000, in the City of San Antonio. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Jane Nelson Senator Drew Nixon Senator Mike Moncrief Senator Jon Lindsay Senator Frank Madla ***** The chair called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted. The chair made opening remarks thanking the City of San Antonio for hosting the hearing and announced that the purpose of the hearing was to solicit and consider public testimony on each of the interim charges assigned to the committee by Lieutenant Governor Rick Perry. The chair laid out the February 7, 2000, minutes and called for revisions. There being none, Senator Moncrief moved approval. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. San Antonio Mayor Pro-tem, Enrique Barrera, welcomed the committee to the City of San Antonio. The chair announced that the committee would begin with a bioterrorism presentation followed by public testimony on charge #2 related to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and genetic issues.
