The House Committee on Public Health will meet in a public hearing to
address issues arising from hospital system sales, conversions,partnerships
and mergers, including the impact on health care in medically underserved
and rural communities and on the level of charity care provided, as well as
a complete review of Texas' charity care law.  The committee will also
address the requirements imposed on emergency medical services providers
in rural areas, and will focus on whether these individual requirements
encourage or hinder the provision of services.  The committee will take
public testimony related to these issues at this meeting.
