PROCLAMATION BY THE PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE AD INTERIM OF THE SENATE OF THE
STATE OF TEXAS

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME:

     Due to the vacancy in the office of Lieutenant Governor, under the
provisions of Section 9, Article III, Texas Constitution, and Rule 1.03,
Rules of the Senate, I, Rodney G. Ellis, President Pro Tempore Ad Interim
of the Senate of the State of Texas, do hereby call the members of the
Senate of the 76th Legislature to convene in the Committee of the Whole
Senate in the Senate Chamber at 1:30 p.m., the 28th day of December, 2000,
for the purpose of electing one of the members of the Senate to perform the
duties of Lieutenant Governor until the next general election.

     The Secretary of the Senate will take notice of this action and will
will notify the members of the Senate.

     IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto signed my name officially at
