Amend CSSB 1 as follows:
      (1) Under the Article XI appropriation to the Texas Tech
University Health Sciences Center(page XI-61),add the following
appropriately numbered rider:
      CONTINGENT APPROPRIATION: TEXAS TECH DIABETES RESEARCH
CENTER.  Contingent on the enactment of HB 2510 or similar
legislation of the 77th Legislature relating to the establishment
of a diabetes research center at the regional academic health
center of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and in
addition to other amounts appropriated by this Act, the sum of
$272,500 is hereby appropriated out of the General Revenue Fund to
the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center for the fiscal
year ending August 31, 2002, for the purpose of establishing a
diabetes research center at a regional academic health center of
the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, and the
additional sum of $817,500 is hereby appropriated out of the
General Revenue Fund to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences
Center for the fiscal year ending August 31, 2003.
      (2) Adjust the article totals (page XI-61) accordingly.
