Amend CSSB 789 as follows:
      (1)  In Section 1 of the bill, in amended Section
531.0216(b), Government Code, strike added Subdivision (4)  (House
committee printing, page 1, lines 19-22), and substitute the
following:
            (4)  consult with the Texas Department of Health and
the telemedicine advisory committee to establish procedures to:
                  (A)  identify clinical evidence supporting
delivery of health care services using a telecommunications system
by January 1, 2001;
                  (B)  establish pilot studies for telemedicine
medical service delivery; and
                  (C)  annually review health care services,
considering new clinical findings, to determine whether
reimbursement for particular services should be denied or
authorized;
      (2)  In Section 17 of the bill, in added Section 32.053(f),
Human Resources Code (House committee printing, page 22, line 6),
strike "and".
      (3)  In Section 17 of the bill, in added Section 32.053(f),
Human Resources Code (House committee printing, page 22, line 9),
between "commission" and the period, insert the following:
            "; and
            (5)  the home and community support services agency
that is providing services using home telemonitoring system
equipment pays for the equipment".
      (4)  In Section 18 of the bill, in added Section 533.101,
Health and Safety Code (House committee printing, page 24, between
lines 4 and 5), add a new Subsection (d) to read as follows:
      (d)  If appropriate treatment services are not available, a
person with mental illness does not have to be diverted from the
criminal justice system.
