SRC-JBJ H.B. 65 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center H.B. 65 77R586 QS-DBy: Pitts (Cain) Jurisprudence 5/3/2001 Engrossed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Under current Texas law, a judge of the 378th Judicial District may not serve as a visiting judge in Bexar, Dallas, Ector, Fort Bend, Harris, Jefferson, Lubbock, Midland, Tarrant, or Travis County. H.B. 65 removes the provision that prohibits a judge of the 378th Judicial District from serving as a visiting judge in those counties. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 24.523, Government Code, to delete existing Subsection (b) regarding assignment as a visiting judge in certain counties. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2001.
