SRC-MWN H.B. 266 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center H.B. 266 77R7006 PAM-DBy: Ellis, Dan (Ogden) Natural Resources 4/27/2001 Engrossed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Sam Houston State University (SHSU) has requested the conveyance of acreage that is currently owned by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. H.B. 266 conveys the specified property to SHSU to be used for governmental purposes. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. (a) Requires the Texas Board of Criminal Justice, not later than January 31, 2002, to convey to the Board of Regents of the Texas State University System for use by Sam Houston State University the real property described by Subsection (e) of this section. (b) Requires the Texas Board of Criminal Justice to convey the property by deed without warranty regarding covenants of title. (c) Requires the deed to contains certain provisions. (d) Requires the Texas Board of Criminal Justice to retain custody of the deed after the deed is filed in the real property records of Walker County. (e) Provides the description of real property referred in this section. SECTION 2. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2001.
