DIGEST AND PURPOSE

The term "antique vehicle" is referenced in various sections of the
Transportation Code, but the definition of the term is not the same for
each reference. To make the definition of antique vehicles uniform, and to
protect all vehicles qualified as such from procedures adopted by counties
and municipalities for the removal of junked vehicles, there is a need to
standardize the age at which a vehicle qualifies as an antique vehicle.
H.B. 495 defines an antique vehicle as a vehicle that is at least 25 years
old.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a
state officer, institution, or agency.
