SRC-JEC H.B. 521 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center H.B. 521 77R5026 YDB-DBy: Gallego (Madla) Intergovernmental Relations 4/26/2001 Engrossed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Currently, the board of directors of the Maverick County Hospital District is authorized to donate surplus personal property or equipment to another governmental entity or to any charitable organization. H.B. 521 adds the stipulations that the donation serve a public purpose and be accompanied by adequate consideration. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 11(p), Chapter 172, Acts of the 59th Legislature, Regular Session, 1965, to authorize the board of the Maverick County Hospital District to donate to another governmental entity or to any charitable organization any surplus personal property or equipment if the donation serves a public purpose and is accompanied by adequate consideration. Deletes text regarding the donation of surplus personal property or equipment. SECTION 2. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2001.
