DIGEST AND PURPOSE

Current law requires certain identifying information to be included in an
application for a protective order regarding family violence, the
registration for enforcement of a support order, and a petition for a suit
affecting the parent-child relationship. As a result, there are concerns
that some of the information required, particularly the address, could
provide a method for a perpetrator of family violence to locate the
perpetrator's victim. H.B. 593 removes the requirement that certain
information be included in certain applications and petitions in order to
protect the location of a person until the court determines that the
person's location should be revealed.
