DIGEST AND PURPOSE 

Created by the 76th Legislature, the 404th District Court includes only
Cameron County while other district courts in the area include both Cameron
and Willacy counties.  H.B. 715 expands the jurisdiction of the 404th
Judicial District to include Willacy County.  

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a
state officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 24.549, Government Code, as follows:

Sec. 24.549.  New heading:  404TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (CAMERON AND WILLACY
COUNTIES).  Provides that the 404th Judicial District is composed of
Cameron and Willacy counties. 

SECTION 2.  Effective date: September 1, 2001.
