DIGEST AND PURPOSE 

H.B.1686 requires a veterinarian to report the existence of specified
diseases to the Texas Animal Health Commission within 24 hours after
diagnosis, and authorizes the commission to require veterinarians to report
other diseases.  

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a
state officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1. Amends Section 161.101, Agriculture Code, to require a
veterinarian to report the existence of certain diseases among certain
livestock or fowl to the Texas Animal Health Commission within 24 hours
after diagnosis of the disease. Makes conforming changes. 

SECTION 2. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2001.
