DIGEST AND PURPOSE 

Funding for child care services in Texas is provided through a collection
of federal and state sources. These funding sources are designed to provide
services to low-income families with parents who are working or attending
school or training.   H.B.  2265 requires the Texas Workforce Commission to
fund child care subsidies for children from households having income of not
more than 66 percent of the state median income.  

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a
state officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 302.062, Labor Code, to require the Texas
Workforce Commission to fund child care subsidies for children from
households having income of not more than 66 percent of the state median
income. 

SECTION 2.  Effective date: September 1, 2001.
