HBA-KDB H.B. 2314 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Office of House Bill AnalysisH.B. 2314 By: Solomons Judicial Affairs 3/9/2001 Introduced BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Currently, the statutory county court system in Denton County is not adequately accommodating the general civil caseload. If an additional civil court were created, it would help reduce the civil caseload in Denton County. House Bill 2314 creates County Court at Law No. 2 of Denton County. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. ANALYSIS House Bill 2314 amends the Government Code to create County Court at Law No. 2 of Denton County. The bill sets forth the jurisdiction of the County Court at Law No. 2 of Denton County. The bill provides that appeals in all cases from judgments and orders of the County Court at Law No. 2 of Denton County are to the court of appeals as provided for an appeal from a district or county court. EFFECTIVE DATE May 1, 2002.
