SRC-JEC H.B. 3136 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center H.B. 3136 77R10495 DAK-FBy: Hilbert (Jackson) Jurisprudence 5/8/2001 Engrossed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Currently, Texas law imposes a 10-year statute of limitations on an action for damages from injury or loss caused by an error in a survey. H.B. 3136 provides that this statute of limitations does not extend or affect a limitations period prescribed for bringing an action under any other law of this state. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 16.011, Civil Practice and Remedies Code, by adding Subsection (c), to provide that this section does not extend or affect a limitations period prescribed for bringing an action under any other law of this state. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2001.
