SRC-JEC H.B. 3150 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center H.B. 3150 77R4627 MI-DBy: Allen (Carona) Intergovernmental Relations 5/4/2001 Engrossed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Currently, certain county officers, employees, sheriffs, deputy sheriffs, and juvenile probation officers are authorized to participate in the General Services Commission's (commission) contract for travel services for the purposes of obtaining reduced airline fares. H.B. 3150 extends the authorization to the use of the commission's contract for reduced travel agent fees to further lower a county's travel expenditures. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 2171.055(e), Government Code, to authorize a county officer or employee who is engaged in official county business to participate in the General Services Commission's (commission) contract for travel services for the purpose of obtaining reduced travel agent fees. Authorizes a county sheriff or deputy sheriff or juvenile probation officer who is transporting a state prisoner under a felony warrant to participate in the commission's contract for travel services for purposes of obtaining reduced travel agent fees for the law enforcement or probation officer and the prisoner. SECTION 2. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2001.
