SRC-MKV, BWC S.B. 165 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 165 77R2826 BDH-DBy: Madla Education 1/31/2001 As Filed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Currently the Education Code provides funding for the transportation of a "regular eligible student" to and from school. The current definition of "regular eligible student" is unclear as to whether it includes those students who attend a magnet school. This bill codifies a rule allowing the transportation allotment to be spent on transporting students to and from magnet schools and clarifies that the funding does include transportation of students to magnet schools. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 42.155 (b)(1), Education Code, by redefining "regular eligible student" to include a student from a magnet school campus. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2001.
