DIGEST AND PURPOSE

Currently, if a license to practice chiropractic has expired for one year
or more, a person must obtain a new license by reexamination and by
complying with the requirements for obtaining an original license. This
bill allows a person to renew a license that has been expired for one year
or more, if the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners (board) determines
that the person has shown good cause for the failure to renew the license
and the person pays to the board the required renewal fee for each year in
which the license was expired and an additional fee, in an amount equal to
the sum of the examination fee for the license multiplied by the number of
years the license was expired, prorated for fractional years, and two times
the examination fee for the license.
