SRC-JBJ S.B. 181 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 181 77R2711 KLA-DBy: Fraser Jurisprudence 2/21/2001 As Filed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Currently, the 32nd Judicial District has three unequal terms of court consisting of a five month term in each county, a four month term in each county, and a three month term in each county. This system causes some citizens to serve a disproportionate Grand Jury term. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 24.134(b), Government Code, to provide that the terms of the 32nd District Court in each county in the district begin on the first Mondays in January, May, and September. Deletes existing text pertaining to certain terms in specific counties. Makes a nonsubstantive change. SECTION 2. Effective date: January 1, 2002.
