DIGEST AND PURPOSE 

Currently, Interstate Highway 30 runs between Interstate 35E in Dallas and
Interstate 35W in Fort Worth.  As proposed, S.B. 232 designates this
portion of Interstate Highway 30 as the Tom Landry Highway.  

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a
state officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1.  Amends Chapter 225B, Transportation Code, by adding Section
225.046, as follows:   

Sec. 225.046.  TOM LANDRY HIGHWAY.  Requires that Interstate Highway 30
between I-35E in Dallas and I-35W in Fort Worth be designated as the Tom
Landry Highway. Requires the Texas Department of Transportation to design
and construct memorial markers indicating the highway number, the
designation as the Tom Landry Highway, and any other appropriate
information, including the Tom Landry hat insignia, at each end of the
highway and at appropriate intermediate sites along the highway. 

SECTION 2.  Effective date:  upon passage or September 1, 2001.

SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE CHANGES

SECTION 1.  Amends As Filed S.B. 232, Chapter 225B, Transportation Code, to
require Tom Landry Highway memorial markers to include the Tom Landry hat
insignia. 

SECTION 2.  No change.
