SRC-JEC S.B. 320 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 320 77R1073 KEL-DBy: Lucio Intergovernmental Relations 3/29/2001 As Filed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Currently, the Texas Housing Corporation is subject to the Texas Sunset Act and the corporation is abolished as of September 1, 2001. However, the Texas Sunset Commission found reason to renew the agency. As proposed, S.B. 320 changes the name of the agency to the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation and extends its existence until September 1, 2003, when it will again be reviewed through the Texas Sunset Act. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 2306.5521, Government Code, to provide that the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation, rather than the Texas Housing Corporation, is subject to Chapter 325 (Texas Sunset Act). Provides that the corporation is abolished and this subchapter expires September 1, 2003, rather than 2001, unless continued in existence as provided by Chapter 325. SECTION 2. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2001.
