SRC-JBJ S.B. 710 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 710 77R6105 DWS-DBy: Lindsay State Affairs 3/13/2001 As Filed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Currently, the Texas Department of Transportation issues special license plates that must include the words "Honorary Consul" for passenger cars and light trucks owned by persons who are honorary consuls authorized by the United States to perform consular duties. As proposed, S.B. 710 changes the words required to appear on these plates from "Honorary Consul" to "Consular Official." RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 502.267(b), Transportation Code, to require license plates issued under this section to include the words "Consular Official," rather than "Honorary Consul." SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2001.
