DIGEST AND PURPOSE

The City of Bullard does not currently have a municipal court of record.
This results in appeals being handled with a new trial in the county court,
which may nullify certain court decisions and cause a backlog in county
court cases. As proposed, S.B. 747 creates a municipal court of record and
sets forth requirements regarding a municipal judge.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a
state officer, institution, or agency.
