SRC-BWC S.B. 950 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 950 77R4637 MTB-DBy: Truan Veteran Affairs & Military Installations 3/12/2001 As Filed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Currently, disabled veteran license plates include the letters "DV" as a prefix or suffix to the numerals on the plate and the words "Disabled Vet." As proposed, S.B. 950 amends the Transportation Code to require the Texas Department of Transportation to include the words "Disabled Veteran" and "U.S. Armed Forces" at the bottom of each disabled veteran license plate in addition to the letters "DV" as a prefix or suffix. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 502.254(c), Transportation Code, to require license plates issued under this section to include the letters "DV" as a prefix or suffix to the numerals on the plate, the words "DISABLED VETERAN," rather than "DISABLED VET," and the words "U.S. Armed Forces" at the bottom of each plate. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2001.
