DIGEST AND PURPOSE

task finding individuals to work polling places on election dates. The
Texas Election Code caps the compensation for election workers at an amount
not to exceed $6 per hour As proposed, S.B. 1023 allows the appropriate
authorities (cities, counties, school districts, and other entities) to
compensate election workers, judges, and clerks, at whatever amount is
deemed reasonable as long as the amount is at least at the federal minimum
wage level.
