DIGEST AND PURPOSE 

Currently, the Advisory Committee on Inpatient Mental Health Services
provides assistance to the Board of the Texas Department of Mental Health
and Mental Retardation on inpatient mental health issues in the state.  As
proposed, S.B. 1085 simply continues existence of the advisory committee. 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a
state officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 571.027, Health and Safety Code, by adding
Subsection (g), to provide that Section 2110.008 (relating to the duration
of an advisory committee), Government Code, does not apply to the advisory
on inpatient mental health services. 

SECTION 2.  Repealer: Chapter 1027, Section 4, Acts of the 75th
Legislature, Regular Session, 1997. 

SECTION 3.  Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2001.
