SRC-MWN S.B. 1155 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 1155 77R8442 JSA-DBy: Ellis, Rodney Education 4/2/2001 As Filed DIGEST AND PURPOSE The University of Texas School of Allied Health Sciences at Houston has been approved to offer graduate programs in contemporary research and health care areas, including health education research technology and computational biomedicine. As proposed, S.B. 1155 amends the Education Code to change the name of The University of Texas School of Allied Health Sciences at Houston to The University of Texas School of Health Information Sciences at Houston. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 65.02(a), Education Code, to provide that the University of Texas System is composed of certain institutions and entities, including The University of Texas School of Health Information Sciences at Houston. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2001.
