Committee Report (Substituted)

DIGEST AND PURPOSE

Currently, there is no central clearinghouse that provides a simple, yet
comprehensive profile of all of Texas' higher education institutions.
Students and parents who seek indicators of the strengths and weaknesses of
the various public universities in Texas must compile the information from
a variety of sources. C.S.S.B. 1186 requires the Texas Higher Education
Coordinating Board (board) to create and post a report on the board's
Internet website which lists all public universities in the state and each
university's corresponding performance on each of 20 measures.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a
state officer, institution, or agency.
