DIGEST AND PURPOSE

Current statutes are inconsistent regarding a physician who is practicing
medicine without an annual registration receipt for the current year but
who pays within a 30-day grace period. As proposed, S.B. 1300 clarifies
that a physician is not considered to be practicing medicine without a
license during the 30-day grace period for payment of the annual
registration fee.

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a
state officer, institution, or agency.

156.004 has the same effect as, and is subject to all penalties of,
practicing medicine without a license.

SECTION 2. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2001.
