SRC-MKV, SEW S.B. 1302 77(R)BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research CenterS.B. 1302 By: Cain Intergovernmental Relations 6/14/2001 Enrolled DIGEST AND PURPOSE Current law requires a city to hold a citywide election for approval before selling, transferring, or conveying park land. However, some park lands are not used for a park or for recreational purposes and the expense of holding an election to approve selling or trading the land would be cumbersome. S.B. 1302 provides that legislation requiring such an election does not apply to certain park lands. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 253.001, Local Government Code, by adding Subsection (i), to provide that Subsection (b) does not apply to a conveyance of certain park lands. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2001.
