SRC-JEC S.B. 1421 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 1421 77R7205 ATP-DBy: West, Royce Jurisprudence 3/22/2001 As Filed DIGEST AND PURPOSE The 75th Legislature provided funding for the Center for the Study and Prevention of Juvenile Crime and Delinquency at Prairie View A&M University, which works to research and prevent juvenile crime. As proposed, S.B. 1421 increases from 25 cents to 50 cents the funding per conviction. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Article 102.075(m), Code of Criminal Procedure, to provide that in addition to the cost on conviction imposed by Subsection (a), a person convicted of an offense described by Subsection (a) is required to pay 50, rather than 25, cents on conviction of the offense. SECTION 2. Makes application of this Act prospective. SECTION 3. Effective date: September 1, 2001.
