SRC-JEC S.B. 1794 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 1794 77R7484 QS-DBy: Nelson Intergovernmental Relations 4/19/2001 As Filed DIGEST AND PURPOSE The town of Trophy Club is located in a rapidly growing part of Texas, and has a growing municipal court caseload. It does not have a municipal court of record, so that any appeal of a municipal court's decision has to be handled through a new trial. As proposed, S.B. 1794 authorizes Trophy Club to establish a municipal court of record and designates Denton County Courts as having appellate jurisdiction. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Chapter 30, Government Code, by adding Subchapter VV, as follows: SUBCHAPTER VV. TROPHY CLUB Sec. 30.01811. APPLICATION; DEFINITION. (a) Provides that this subchapter applies to the town of Trophy Club located in Tarrant and Denton Counties. (b) Defines "appellate courts." SECTION 2. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2001.
