DIGEST AND PURPOSE

The town of Trophy Club is located in a rapidly growing part of Texas, and
has a growing municipal court caseload. It does not have a municipal court
of record, so that any appeal of a municipal court's decision has to be
handled through a new trial. As proposed, S.B. 1794 authorizes Trophy Club
to establish a municipal court of record and designates Denton County
Courts as having appellate jurisdiction.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a
state officer, institution, or agency.
