                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the sale and delivery of drugs by electronic media
 1-3     including the Internet.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 554, Occupations Code, is
 1-6     amended by adding Section 554.055 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 554.055.  RULEMAKING; ELECTRONIC MEDIA. (a)  In this
 1-8     section, "Internet" has the meaning assigned by Section 2002.001,
 1-9     Government Code.
1-10           (b)  The board shall adopt rules regarding the sale and
1-11     delivery of drugs by use of electronic media, including the
1-12     Internet.
1-13           SECTION 2. The Texas State Board of Pharmacy shall adopt the
1-14     rules required by Section 554.055, Occupations Code, as added by
1-15     this Act, not later than January 31, 2002.
1-16           SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
