1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to information a person required to register as a sex
 1-3     offender must report to a local law enforcement authority.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Article 62.05(b), Code of Criminal Procedure, is
 1-6     amended to read as follows:
 1-7           (b)  A [If a] person subject to registration under this
 1-8     chapter [required to register is not supervised by an officer
 1-9     listed in Subsection (a), the person] shall report to the local law
1-10     enforcement authority any change in the person's physical health or
1-11     job status not later than the seventh day after the date of the
1-12     change.  For purposes of this subsection, a person's job status
1-13     changes if the person leaves employment for any reason, remains
1-14     employed by an employer but changes the location at which the
1-15     person works, or begins employment with a new employer. For
1-16     purposes of this subsection, a person's health status changes if
1-17     the person is hospitalized as a result of an illness.
1-18           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
