                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to requiring certain long-term care institutions to refer
 1-3     persons to other institutions.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 242, Health and Safety Code,
 1-6     is amended by adding Section 242.017 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 242.017.  REFERRAL TO OTHER INSTITUTION.  If an
 1-8     institution is unable to admit a person seeking admission because
 1-9     the institution is at capacity, the institution shall refer the
1-10     person seeking admission to another institution.
1-11           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
