                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the computation of certain workers' compensation income
 1-3     benefits.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Sections 408.061(b) and (c), Labor Code, are
 1-6     amended to read as follows:
 1-7           (b)  A weekly impairment income benefit may not exceed 100
 1-8     [70] percent of the state average weekly wage rounded to the
 1-9     nearest whole dollar.
1-10           (c)  A weekly supplemental income benefit may not exceed 100
1-11     [70] percent of the state average weekly wage rounded to the
1-12     nearest whole dollar.
1-13           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001, and
1-14     applies only to a claim for workers' compensation benefits based on
1-15     a compensable injury that occurs on or after that date. A claim
1-16     based on a compensable injury that occurs before that date is
1-17     governed by the law in effect on the date that the compensable
1-18     injury occurred, and the former law is continued in effect for that
1-19     purpose.
