                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to certain information that school districts must provide
 1-3     to teachers and administrators.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 21.204(d), Education Code, is amended to
 1-6     read as follows:
 1-7           (d)  The board of trustees shall provide each teacher with a
 1-8     copy of the teacher's contract with the school district and, on the
 1-9     teacher's request, a copy of the board's employment policies.  If
1-10     the district has an Internet website, the district shall place the
1-11     board's employment policies on that website. At each school in the
1-12     district, the board shall make a copy of the board's employment
1-13     policies available for inspection at a reasonable time on request.
1-14           SECTION 2.  Section 37.018, Education Code, is amended to
1-15     read as follows:
1-16           Sec. 37.018.  INFORMATION FOR EDUCATORS. (a)  Each school
1-17     district shall, on the request of a teacher or administrator,
1-18     provide the [each] teacher or [and] administrator with:
1-19                 (1)  a copy of this subchapter; and
1-20                 (2)  [with] a copy of the local policy relating to this
1-21     subchapter.
1-22           (b)  If the district has an Internet website, the district
1-23     shall place the information described by Subsection (a) on that
1-24     website.
 2-1           SECTION 3.  This Act applies beginning with the 2001-2002
 2-2     school year.
 2-3           SECTION 4.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 2-4     a vote of two-thirds  of all the members elected to each house, as
 2-5     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
 2-6     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 2-7     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
