                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the terms of a court order for the possession of or
 1-3 access to a child.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 105.006, Family Code, is amended by adding
1-6 Subsection (i) to read as follows:
1-7 (i) An order that provides for the possession of or access
1-8 to a child and that does not vary from the standard possession
1-9 order set forth in Subchapter F, Chapter 153, is considered to
1-10 sufficiently state the terms of possession and access by merely
1-11 referring to the applicable sections of Subchapter F, Chapter 153.
1-12 If the court finds that the period of possession of or access to a
1-13 child should vary from the standard possession order, the order is
1-14 considered to sufficiently state the terms of possession and access
1-15 by referring to the applicable sections of Subchapter F, Chapter
1-16 153, and stating any variation from the standard possession order.
1-17 A reference in the court's order to a section of Subchapter F,
1-18 Chapter 153, is a reference to that section as it existed on the
1-19 date the order was rendered.
1-20 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001, and
1-21 applies only to a court order providing for the possession of or
1-22 access to a child rendered or modified on or after that date. An
1-23 order rendered or modified before the effective date of this Act is
1-24 governed by the law in effect on the date the order was rendered or
2-1 modified, and the former law is continued in effect for that
 2-2 purpose.
