 1-7                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-8                                   AN ACT
 1-9     relating to the appointment of an assistant administrator for the
1-10     Ector County Hospital District.
1-11           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-12           SECTION 1. Sections 4.13(a), (b), and (c), Chapter 550, Acts
1-13     of the 71st Legislature, Regular Session, 1989, are amended to read
1-14     as follows:
1-15           (a)  The board may appoint qualified persons as administrator
1-16     of the district [, assistant administrator,] and attorney for the
1-17     district.  The administrator and attorney serve at the will of the
1-18     board.
1-19           (b)  The administrator may appoint one or more qualified
1-20     persons as assistant administrators for the district.  An [,]
1-21     assistant administrator serves [, and attorney serve] at the will
1-22     of the administrator [board].
1-23           (c)  The administrator, [assistant administrator, and]
1-24     attorney, and each assistant administrator are entitled to
1-25     compensation as determined by the board.
1-26           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-27     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-28     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-29     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-30     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
