                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to requiring drug wholesalers to provide certain
 1-3     information to the Texas Department of Health.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Subchapter I, Chapter 431, Health and Safety
 1-6     Code, is amended by adding Section 431.208 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec.  431.208.  REPORTING OF PURCHASE PRICE. (a)  A person
 1-8     who engages in the wholesale distribution of drugs in this state
 1-9     shall annually file with the department information showing the
1-10     purchase price the distributor pays for each drug the distributor
1-11     sells in this state.
1-12           (b)  The department and the attorney general may investigate
1-13     the distributor to determine the accuracy of the information
1-14     provided under Subsection (a).
1-15           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
