                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the requirements for write-in candidates in a special
 1-3     election for city officers.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 146.051, Election Code, is amended to read
 1-6     as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 146.051.  CANDIDATE'S NAME REQUIRED TO APPEAR ON LIST.
 1-8     In a general or special election for city officers, a write-in vote
 1-9     may not be counted unless the name written in appears on the list
1-10     of write-in candidates.
1-11           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
